Jon Mendis - Managing Director

As Managing Director, Jon is responsible for Svalinn Capital Advisor's oversees the company's full range commercial real estate services, including commercial property development, commercial property asset management, investment of sub-performing and non-performing real estate secured loans, institutional investment strategies and commercial property acquisitions and re-positioning. 

Prior to forming Svalinn Capital Advisors, Mr. Mendis was the Director of Acquisitions at Retail Opportunity Investments Corp. (ROIC), a publicly traded REIT where he directly oversaw the company’s dramatic growth. As ROIC’s most active acquisition director, Mr. Mendis personally sourced, negotiated or closed over $4 billion in retail real estate in approximately 60 separate transactions. 

Mr. Mendis holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. As an accomplished student athlete in U of M’s prestigious wrestling program, he was honored as a two-time Big Ten Scholar Athlete.
